Wiley has the longest eyelashes I’ve ever seen on a dog and a lovely beauty mark just like Cindy Crawford. She is the veteran of this pack at 13 years old. She was a great model (just like Cindy)!

Toby in black + white with the classic droopy lab tongue. Age 6.

Buddy wanted to look anywhere except at my camera. At 12 years old, he still has his good looks.

Handsome brown eyes…

Here is the whole whole pack…(including Sam from the last post). This is a new favorite photo of mine. Wiley relaxing getting a belly rub, Sam giving his mom kisses, Buddy being forced to look towards the camera, and Toby with his big lab tongue hanging out. :) It is obvious how much Shelley and Porter love their dogs and I really enjoyed meeting them! I just love dog people.

Happy Friday! Im off to Eureka Springs later today for Jamie and I’s bachelorette weekend at a spa. One of my best friends Jamie is getting married in July so we decided to combine our bachelorette parties since we have the same best friends. We realized the other day that people might think we are getting married to each other. Hmmm…..oh well! :)

When I met Sam I just wanted to squeal because he is so cute! I photographed his family last weekend for the HSO Calendar. At just a year old, Sam is the youngest in his pack of 4 dogs and 2 humans. I’ll post photos of them tomorrow.

My grandfather Carl was an amazing person. He accomplished so much in his life and always stayed humble. A bench now sits in his memory at the University of Arkansas campus on Old Main Lawn. The view of Dickson St. and Mt. Sequoyah is beautiful. I really think it’s the best spot for a bench on the entire campus. I can’t believe I forgot to take a picture of the view! I have met several clients for shoots on Old Main Lawn and I always get there early and check on his bench. I like to make sure the plaque isn’t covered with leaves and I dust it off a little. I know Carl would be so proud of me. He would like the fact that his bench is my meeting spot for clients. Since he has been gone I have graduated college, started my own photography business, and now I”m getting married. He liked Neill and I’m so glad they got to know other. Anyways…Im tearing up so I must go now. I’m off to edit some photos of the Steele / Winston family from last weekend. I can’t wait to show you photos their 4 awesome dogs!

This is amazing. A family up in Rogers lost their house in a fire on Friday afternoon. It is so sad that they lost everything, but at least their family members (four legged ones included) are all just fine. If my house ever catches fire I can only hope that I get firefighters like these sent over! This poor cat looks just like my Annalise.

Remember this post? Well tomorrow is the day! I have had LOTS of inquiries from folks who are interested but only 1 booked time slot! Come on people…put your dog(s) in the HSO calendar instead of paying me a session fee! After our session you are welcome to order photos if you want to. Your photo for the planner must be submitted by May 31. As you might now, I am getting hitched on May 24th and will be on my honeymoon until June 2nd. This means I won’t be able to help you get any last minute photos for the planner. Planning a wedding is a practically a full time job and I’m down to 1 month!
If you are interested please email me or call me ASAP to set something up for tomorrow afternoon/evening. It’s for a good cause AND you can get some cool photos of your dog(s). Win win situation!
Happy Friday!

Maggie somehow lost her way home and ended up at the shelter. Now she needs a forever home! Sometimes I find it hard to describe a dog when I only spend 5-10 minutes with it, but I’ll try my best to sum her up. Maggie’s personality is on the calm side, and she is definitely a smart and observant little dog. She pays close attention and listens well to the humans around her, almost like she is trying to please them. She walks well on a leash and knows how to sit on command! She is physically an adorable little girl. Those big ears give her so much character. Isn’t she cute?!!! I think she would make a great couch buddy to watch TV with. She would also be a perfect walking partner since she doesn’t pull on her leash.
Please call the FAS at 444-3456 for more information on Maggie. (UPDATE 5.05.09 ADOPTED)

On a happy note…Hampton and Mushi from previous posts both found homes. That’s 2 more lives saved!
I recently received the message below from the facebook group Spay Arkansas. I’m not sure I understand exactly what it means, but it doesn’t sound good. Does this mean that low income families will no longer be able to spay/neuter their pets at an affordable price?
“The Fayetteville low cost spay/neuter program has been suspended due to a ruling by the Ar. Veterinary Medical Examining Board. Please register your dismay and and encourage them to rethink this policy. Call 501 224 2836 and say that you think that nonprofits should be excluded from the Feb 11 “Requirements for Vets working with Humane Societies/Animal Shelters” and remind them that it is more cost effective and humane to spay and neuter than to pick up and euthanize!”
Does anyone know more about this?
Meet Scout. He is an 8 1/2 year old German Shorthaired Pointer. He was a great model and did anything for a treat!

This last photo was an accident, but it turned out to be one of my favorites. I like his white eyebrows. :)

This pretty girl showed up on her parent’s porch one day, hence the name Veranda! She is a VERY friendly cat. So friendly that it was difficult to get a full body shot of her because she wanted to be right next to me rubbing up against my legs.

Meet Scarlett, a 12 year old German Shorthaired Pointer. Although her past is somewhat a mystery, she was obviously mistreated and had more puppies than any dog ever should. When she could no longer produce puppies, she became useless to her previous owner. That’s where Amy and her husband stepped in to foster her. Scarlett stole their hearts and has been a permanent member of the family for almost 3 years now.
When I arrived at her house, Scarlett didn’t greet me at the door with a wagging tail and kisses like most dogs. She stayed on her bed and quietly observed me from a distance. She has been through so much that she isn’t very trusting of new people. We decided I would just photograph her right where she was and try not to make her uncomfortable or scare her. After chatting with her mom for a few minutes, I sat on the floor and slowly scooted closer to Scarlett’s bed. The sound of her mom’s voice reassured her that I was a nice lady and everything was just fine. Scarlett allowed me to get close enough to give her a treat and get some good shots of her pretty brown eyes. She is a gorgeous girl and it was a pleasure to meet her.

You might notice her right ear is a little shorter than the left one. Scarlett’s parents suspect that she may have been tattooed. When her previous owners were finished breeding her, they might have cut off part of her ear to remove the tattoo. Although her story is sad, please know that she now has a safe home where her mom loves her to pieces!!!

I have the coolest clients! Scarlett’s mom is the owner of Something Urban, a clothing shop on Dickson St. in downtown Fayetteville. You should check it out!
I’ll post some photos of Scout and Veranda soon. Thanks for a fun session Amy!
