No Power

Im writing this on my iphone so i hope it works. I lost power shortly after my last post on Tuesday. We are going on 48 hours now and wow it’s cold! I never knew how much I loved electricity until it went away. There are power trucks driving around my neighborhood so I’m keeping my fingers crossed that they will get it back on soon. Tina is wearing her sweater and I put one of my sweatshirts on both the big dogs. Next time I blog I hope it’s from my computer in my nice warm home office. Please send good thoughts to Northwest Arkansas!

Ice Storm 2009

That’s what the local TV stations are calling it.  Over 112,000 homes in my area are without power.  I am lucky I still have mine, but I keep expecting it to go out any minute.  We went out to explore (on foot of course) and I took my camera.  It looks like a winter wonderland…but an ugly mean one.  Trees and branches are snapping everywhere.  It sounds like a firework goes off every once in a while but it’s just another tree falling.  Everything is covered in ice.

We have lots of hills in fayetteville, which means every other road is closed.  This street is right next to mine.

(L) My backyard is not looking so good.   (R) Neither is the new tree we planted last spring.

I hope my power lines don’t fall!

Jonah will have plenty of sticks to play with after this.

More freezing rain is coming tonight.  I’m thankful I have a fireplace and a couple dogs to keep me warm.  :)

It’s a New Day + Yes We Can

I thought maybe I shouldn’t post anything related to politics on my blog, but then I thought,”What the heck, it’s MY blog!”  I am so excited about our new president and the changes in store for our country.  It might take a while to get things back on track, but I think our new president is intelligent and articulate and I believe in his ability to clean up some of the messes made by his predecessor.  I am loving these songs and wanted to share in case you hadn’t heard them.  Warning: The first one will make you want to dance.  :)

Miss Mac is back

…after missing for 3 days!  I have blogged about Miss Mac once before.  She belongs to my friend Allison who I know has been worried sick these last 3 days.   Thank goodness she made it home!

Ranger (again)

I found a few more favorites of Ranger while editing the photos from his shoot.  This guy is so good looking I think he deserves another day on the blog.

Best Girlfriends

I treasure the friendships I have with my best girlfriends.  Looks like these girls do too…

Canine Connection Holiday Party

I have been meaning to blog about this for a while now, but I guess I’m a little behind.  Oh well…better late than never.  I was so honored when Valerie asked if I would come photograph the Canine Connection Holiday Party.  It was such a blast!  I got to meet so many great dogs and their humans.  Here are some of the regulars at the Canine Connection.

Musical chairs was so funny.  The big dogs were allowed to put just their front feet in the chair.

These guys were ready to go home by the end of the night.  All that partying wore them out!

Juicy Girl

I just couldn’t help myself.  I bought Tina this Juicy Couture shirt at TJ Maxx for $12.  I know its ridiculous but I am able rationalize it due to the freezing cold weather.  I myself am not a Juicy girl, but I think Tina might be.  Whatdya think?

A Visitor

The most random thing happened the other day and I can’t believe I caught it on camera.  I was working at my computer with Miss Tina right next to me on top of her crate.  I know that sounds weird, but she sort of has a doggie bunk bed.  One bed in the crate and one on top of the crate where she can be right next to me (it serves as an alternative to my lap).  Anyways, Tina was asleep on her top bunk when she had an unexpected visitor.  Oliver climbed in her bed and snuggled up right next to her, practically on top of her.  It was so cute, she gave him a weird look, but didn’t growl or anything.  After he got settled in, they both fell fast asleep.  I thought it wouldn’t last, but they stayed that way for about 30 minutes.    This was very strange since they normally want nothing to do with each other.  Weird!
