Tiny Logo Changes

And I do mean tiny, as in barely noticeable.  I’m pretty boring lately, so I thought I’d share my slightly tweaked logo with you.  I thought it needed just a little update.  Part of the “R” is stretched, and I lightened and shrunk the paw print a little.  I also lightened the word “photography,” which I think gives the whole logo a little more depth.  Sometimes I wish I had a snazzier logo, but whenever I try new ideas I always end up reverting back to something fairly plain and simple.  You might not even be able to tell…

NEW

I had a fun shoot yesterday with 2 Schnauzers and I was so glad the weather cooperated.  I’ll share their photos soon!  Hope you had a happy heart day!

I’m Still Here!

Sorry I have been a bad blogger lately.  My poor little blog has been so neglected, but for good reason.  The good news is I had a VERY busy holiday season.  I’m excited to share with you that these past couple of months were the most successful ones I’ve ever had in business.  I have been busy fulfilling orders and helping people surprise their loved ones with creative dog photos.  I was involved in several “under cover” shoots in order to surprise a significant other or spouse with a unique Christmas gift.  :)  I also got the opportunity to do another architectural shoot, which was really fun for me because of my interior design degree and background.  I can’t tell you how happy I am to be so busy, especially since losing my full time (bill paying!) job earlier this year.  Anyways, I just wanted you to know I haven’t abandoned my blog.  I plan on blogging more regularly now that the holidays are over, so please stick around.  I will be posting a fun 2009 recap soon.  I hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas!

2009 Holiday Cards

I love making holiday cards for my clients!  There are a few new designs this year, while most were offered last year.  Keep in mind that all colors, fonts, and wording can be changed to suit your tastes.  Also, check last year’s holiday card post since there are a few designs I didn’t include here because they weren’t very popular.  Pricing for holiday cards can be found at the bottom of this post.

Cards are available on 3 different types of paper.

  • Standard Semi-Gloss $40.00 (looks and feels like a regular post card)
  • Linen Texture $45.00 (lightly textured, matte finish – my favorite)
  • Pearl Finish $50.00 (thick and sturdy, pearl finish shimmers just a little – very pretty)

Cards come in sets of 25 with white envelopes.  After you approve your design, please allow about a week for printing and shipping.  Contact me soon to start the design process! As always – 10% off orders over $200.00.

My Radio Debut

I was on the radio!

I was recently interviewed for a segment on KUAF, our local NPR affiliate.  The topic was “From Unemployment to Small Business.”  I was so nervous about hearing myself on the radio, but my friend Marci did a wonderful job putting this piece together.  She is very talented at what she does, and I am so glad we got to work together on this.  It aired Monday morning on KUAF.  Have a listen HERE!

The voice you hear at the very end of the segment is Macy and Winston’s mom, Jennifer.

Special thanks to Marci and Jennifer!

Rural Arkansas Cover Shot

I’m honored to have photographed Frank Broyles for a feature article in Rural Arkansas Magazine, a monthly publication by the Electric Cooperatives of Arkansas.  Coach Broyles is well known for his work with Razorback Athletics and coaching football for the University of Arkansas.  At 85 years old, he hasn’t slowed down a bit.  He is now working to raise awareness and education about Alzheimer’s.  This is a cause important to Mr. Broyles and his family since he lost his wife, Barbara, to the disease in 2004.  He has published a book called Coach Broyles’ Playbook for Alzheimer’s Caregivers.  The book is full of practical advice and tips for Alzheimer’s caregivers.  Click below to read the article and see a few photos I took.

Special thanks to Amy and Sheila for contacting me to do this.  Sheila – The article is beautifully written.  I’m so glad I got to work with you!

I was lucky enough to get a signed copy of his book!  He knows my grandfather which is why he used my maiden last name.  Oh well…it’s still so cool!

New Facebook Fan Page!

facebook-logo

Due to some issues with running an ad on Facebook, I had to create a whole new fan page.  I know this seems silly, but Facebook wouldn’t let me change the name of my page, and the name of your ad has to match the name fan your page, which was too long to fit nicely in a little ad, so….. I made a whole new page.  I’ll delete the old page soon.

Maggie’s Urban Shoot + Downtown Discount

I promised more of Maggie’s “urban” downtown photos and here they are!  I had so much fun editing these.  Most of the time I meet my clients at a park, which makes perfect sense.  Dogs do hang out at parks, where they play in the grass  under tall trees, so lot of pictures with grass and trees suits dogs pretty well.  Photographing Maggie downtown was a nice change of scene.   Her photos turned out a little more modern and edgy.  There is such a variety of amazing backdrops downtown as opposed to the usual greenery at a park.  I hope you enjoy these images as much as I enjoyed making them!

I love this next photo.  :)   Can you believe some people think dogs don’t smile?!!

I’m hoping a future client might want to take their dog downtown for some photos.  In fact, I want to take a client there sooo bad that I’m offering 25% off the session fee for anyone who books a downtown shoot during July!  I know it’s really hot outside, but 6:30 in the evening really isn’t that bad for a walk around the square.  Email me to schedule your session!

Goin’ to the Chapel

I have been a bad blogger lately.  Planning my wedding has taken up a lot of my time, but the big day is finally here.  I am getting married at 6:00 today!  Just wanted to let everyone know I haven’t abandoned my blog.  :)   Neill and I are headed to St. Lucia on Tuesday for our honeymoon.  I hope to have some fun photos to share when I get back.  Please cross your fingers that the rain will stay away from Fayetteville, AR today!
