Meet Zero. He is a beautiful dog. He has bright eyes, a shiny coat, and fabulous manners, and his parents are friends of mine! :) Black dogs can sometimes be tricky to shoot because their eyes usually blend in with their coat, but not Zero. His handsome brown eyes show up really well. Oh, and his ears are nice and perky and he has a perfect shiny button nose…I could go on and on about this guy. His photos turned out to be some of my favorites that I’ve taken.

Happy engagement Melissa and Brett!
By the way…consider this your (very early) wedding gift from me. :) Congratulations!

for the Smithstonians…

Yes, these are humans on my blog. Looking good guys!
I just created a Rachel Sloan Photography page on

Click here to be my fan! Joe wants you to.

and my friend Megan is worried sick. Please pass this on to anyone who lives in the Holcomb Elementary area of Fayetteville!!! He got out of his backyard sometime on Saturday night. He is still a baby…less than a year old. His coat is long, light brown and black brindle. Please keep your eyes peeled for him!

UPDATE 5/23/09: Still no sign of Tucker. He has been missing for a week now. His parents have put flyers all over town, an ad in the newspaper, and an ad on Craigslist.

…after missing for 3 days! I have blogged about Miss Mac once before. She belongs to my friend Allison who I know has been worried sick these last 3 days. Thank goodness she made it home!

We took Miss Mac on a walk last weekend so I could take a few pictures of her. I wish I had gotten more time to photograph her. Maybe Allison will let me take her up to campus sometime soon for a real photo session. ;)
Miss Mac is such a sweet girl. At 9 years old, her spirit is still so young and playful. When she saw me pick up her leash, she was ready to go! In this first photo, she had just spotted a cat across the street. She wanted to chase it sooo bad.

I think she looks so pretty with the sunlight behind her. Don’t worry, I didn’t take her off her leash and make her sit in the road. I photoshopped her leash out of these next 2 pictures. I know “photoshopped” probably isn’t a word, but I’m going to pretend it is.

We have known Zeus and his dad RJ for several years now. He is the same age as my Maggie, and they have had many play dates together. Zeus is very calm and gentle, a perfect example of what a pit bull can be when raised properly. It is unfortunate that this breed has such a bad reputation. Although he might look intimidating, Zeus wouldn’t hurt a fly. He even let 3 year old Grayson practice his lasso skills on him. I think he is the most laid back dog I know.

Please feel free to comment. That way I don’t feel like I’m talking to myself. :)
Architecture for Humanity is a charitable organization that seeks architectural solutions to humanitarian crisis and brings design services to communities in need. Tonight I will be attending an event at George’s Majestic Lounge starting at 5:00. There will be food, music, and a silent auction with lots of great items. All proceeds will benefit Architecture for Humanity and I will be donating a photo session to the silent auction! Check out the poster below, and visit www.madhope4positivechange.org.

Thomas came over to play last night which is great for 3 reasons.
1) He wears my dogs out.
2) I get a chance to practice photographing a very hyper, fast moving dog.
3) His dad can have a night to study in peace.
Thomas is such a cute little guy, very full of energy and can jump higher than you might think. At about a year old, he is like a little furry spring. We missed him while he was out of town this summer! Maggie and Jonah are very glad he is back in the neighborhood now.

Some of our very best friends, Joe and Jamie of Fayetteville Window Washing, gave us the coolest wedding gift! They cleaned all the windows on my house, inside and out! That’s way better than a new blender. The house was built in 1966, and I thought the windows had become foggy with old age. Well apparently they were just really dirty because they look so good now! They cleaned off all the built up dirt on the outside, and all the doggie nose prints on the inside. I swear more light comes into the house with the windows being so clean…I love it!
If you live in NW Arkansas and your home or office needs a professional window cleaning, give them a call at 479-442-2584 or check out their website at www.fayettevillewindowwashing.com. Thanks Joe and Jamie!!!
