My grandfather Carl was an amazing person. He accomplished so much in his life and always stayed humble. A bench now sits in his memory at the University of Arkansas campus on Old Main Lawn. The view of Dickson St. and Mt. Sequoyah is beautiful. I really think it’s the best spot for a bench on the entire campus. I can’t believe I forgot to take a picture of the view! I have met several clients for shoots on Old Main Lawn and I always get there early and check on his bench. I like to make sure the plaque isn’t covered with leaves and I dust it off a little. I know Carl would be so proud of me. He would like the fact that his bench is my meeting spot for clients. Since he has been gone I have graduated college, started my own photography business, and now I”m getting married. He liked Neill and I’m so glad they got to know other. Anyways…Im tearing up so I must go now. I’m off to edit some photos of the Steele / Winston family from last weekend. I can’t wait to show you photos their 4 awesome dogs!

I’m so proud of him. Click here to read an article published in The Daily Sentinel all about him and his store.

My mom and I recently babysat my little cousin Ava. Just for fun, we brought out my mom’s old costume jewelry box and Ava loved looking through all of that sparkly stuff. She was fascinated with this one red necklace and she would not let us have it back. She just held it and stared at the way it sparkled in the light. Then she went from looking at it to chewing on it. I remembered my camera was in my car and took these right before her parents picked her up. Isn’t she cute?!

who always say, “Now where in Colorado does your dad live?“ And then I usually say, “Cedaredge, it’s a small town about an hour outside of Grand Junction.” Then when they don’t know where that is they ask if its near Denver or Aspen. “Nope,” I say, “It’s on the very western side of the state.” I wouldn’t expect anyone to know where Cedaredge is, so let me show you.
Here is the whole state of Colorado. The red pushpin is where my dad lives.

I flew into Montrose this morning and I am sitting in my dad’s store right now.
Cedaredge is a very small town, the population is about 2200. There is one stoplight on Main Street, which is the street where my dad’s store is located. My dad’s house is not in town, it’s up on the Mesa (literally up on a mesa in the woods) about 15 minutes from town. Although Cedaredge is small, it is surrounded by other small towns that make up what they call “Surface Creek Valley,” population 8,000. There is one grocery store in Cedaredge, one bank, a couple of restuarants, and several art galleries. The closest Wal-Mart is 25 minutes away. I’m here to vist my dad and go to Applefest, where there will be lots of good food, music, art, and of course apples. There are tons of Apple orchards out here! I’m going to take lots of pictures, and I look forward to sharing some of them next week when I am home.
Check out my newest cousin. She is sooo cute!

Sam, Will, & Caroline graduated from high school! Seems like just yesterday they were watching Barney and shooting me with nerf guns. We had a fun weekend celebrating and spending time with the family. Will & Caroline will attend OU in Norman, and Sam was accepted to film school at NYU! Our family is so proud of them! I got to spend some time with their 2 dogs Lucy and Max, and their cat Grace. She was a perfect model. You can see more photos of Grace on the website.
